The Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS) was founded in 1978. It came to be known as one of Asia’s first international gemological institutes to provide professional and comprehensive gemstone and jewellery reports. GIA (Gemological Institute Of America)
GIA India Laboratory Private Limited (‘GIA India’), a subsidiary of the Gemological Institute of America, Inc. (‘GIA’), has been serving the Indian gem and jewellery industry since 2008 with a state-of-the art grading laboratory in Mumbai. We also offer gemological and jewellery design educational programs. Gemmological Institute of India (GII) is the premier gemmology institute in India and the only institution recognized by the Government of India’s Department of Science & Technology as a SIRO (Scientific and Industrial Research Organization) laboratory. For over 50 years, GII has been the trusted authority for diamond grading, gemstone testing, gemmology education, and research in the gems and jewellery industry.
GRS (GemResearch SwissLab)
GRS Aims for Excellence in Research Since its founding in 1996 by Dr. Adolf Peretti, GRS gemological laboratory’s research has focused principally on three main areas: 1. The identification and characterization of high-quality gemstones from newly discovered mines, and the determination of origin for gems derived from classic mining regions. 2. The identification of gemstone imitations, synthetics, and new gem treatments. 3. Expertise and specialization in color grading and gemstone color branding, such as the well-known GRS-type “pigeon’s blood” and GRS-type “royal blue” color descriptions. Gübelin (Gübelin Gem Lab)
The Gübelin Gem Lab team consists of highly qualified and experienced specialists. Each team member is trained specifically in his or her field of work, such as gemmology, the operation of analytical instruments, or gemstone photography. On joining the Gübelin Gem Lab team, our gemmologists complete an intensive two to three years’ internal training programme before reaching the level of expertise that enables them to append their signatures to a Gübelin report. IGI (International Gemological Institute)
IGI is the largest international laboratory for diamond and colored gemstone certification. It is the only international certification lab which is controlled by single central governing body that sticks to one internationally acknowledged system for diamond and colored gemstone grading. Apart from the standard 4 C’s which stands for Color, Clarity, Cut and Carat Weight. IGI certificates adds another “C”: Confidence which every consumer should have while buying diamonds, or colored gemstones.
